Hey Jonathan! The difference is we’re using GDAX. Going from Coinbase to GDAX is free, and from GDAX to Binance. Once we’re in Binance we can go from ETH to XLM for .05% of the transaction amount as a fee. So that’s the optimal route.

However if you don’t want to wait to be verified on GDAX, then you can go directly from Coinbase to Binance. This, however, incurs a transfer fee that GDAX covers for you. With Ethereum, it’s about 19x as much as Litecoin’s, so you end up paying more with the transfer from Coinbase to Binance than you do in going from Litecoin to Bitcoin or Ethereum on Binance with 2 exchanges. It was at least 19x the last time I checked, which is bound to change but is still probably more than Litecoin.
